Fall Orange Table Runner

OK not a great photo, but here is the table runner that was to be a quilt, but I hated what it was to be.
I'm not sure if I'm really done with the quilting, but I think I am at this point.
Love that orange fabric.

Western Sunset

I spent the day quilting Western Sunset.

Tonight I bound it and it feels good to have it done.

Used 10 yards of fabric, so that put be in the black for the month.

This is my OMG for the month.
You should check out the others on Elm Street Quilts

Now to get the table runners finished before the end of the month.

Quilts of Valor

Two QOVs quilted.
One with loops and one with organic flames.
Beautiful panels.
Had thread breakage problems with the organic one, but made it through.
It felt good to actually help with QOV again.

Design Wall Monday

I was working on the long arm all day today, so I forgot to post my design wall monday.
Spring Jelly Rolls

Orange Fall Quilt turned into a table runner because I was not thrilled with what I had started.
Linking up to Design Wall Monday.

organic quilting

I'm working on getting the batting together for the next two quilts, so I decided to quilt Day Lily
I have a challenge with Learning QAL to learn some organic quilting
So, I did the one that looks like bark on Day Lily.

The back is actually black, but the flash washed it out.
You can see the organic quilting here.

I did lines with leaves on a mug rug from Simply Woven leftovers.

I did a square spiral on a mug rug from Simply Woven leftovers.

I can't say that I love this type of quilting. I like spirals more.
If you notice on Day Lily, I couldn't stand the gentle curves, and added in some spirals.
It quilts up fairly quickly, so that is a positive solution..

I think it has it's place and I'm glad I played with it.
i quilted a QOV and used an organic line with a "flame" in it.

I wanted something quick and organic quilting is a quicker process than some others.

This was an interesting trial.

Motivational Monday

18-24 September 2017

1.Work on Irish Stars quilt-a-long
36 of 81 done

2. Reorganize the studio - work on the floor & filing

Filed many receipts and bills while waiting on hold.
Organized the quilts I'm doing for others.
i have the spot in front of the window seat clear and it feels good.
There is still a big need to organize, but I'm doing better.
The replace container is empty and if i can get in the habit of putting stuff away after a project, it will not be such a huge task next time.

3.Work on baby clothing quilt
Sewed two more rows together.
I'll keep working on this one.
It takes about half an hour to pin the seams together.

4. WITB

This box is crazy full.
I seem to continue to add things to it.
I'll be working on this one box for the week.
a. The pillow case was full of music things - not mine, but DD's.
It is now in her room for her to go through.
b. I had some crafting mason jars and they are not in their place in the extra bedroom.
c. The PVC frames have a home on top of the cabinets.
d. The purse outside the box had more receipts, DD GS lifetime membership, checks and cash.
e. The blue box had many pieces of different items. All are with their other parts. I also donated an ott light that i'm not sure if it works or not and some craft supplies I'll never use.
f. The bottom of the bin had girl scout items in it and they are filed with my girl scout files.
g. Found Christmas cards that I normally make boxes from. They need to be gone through to make sure the addresses I have are correct, but then, I think I'll toss them.
I still have two small containers from that box that I need to go through.
I collapsed the crate and stored it, so I can't put more in it.

5. Finish binding day lilies

6. Western Sunset to top stage
top and backing made.
Just need to quilt it and bind it.

7. Bind second Simply Woven mug rug

8. Fall Post Cards

9. My Choice Post Cards

10. Cut apart Steele Shirts.

This will not be worked on until probably January, but I had time and decided to cut and get them in a smaller pile.
Thinking my shading on this one will need to be something other than black.
I think a dark charcoal might work better.
I'm also going to try (on another shirt) the terial magic spray instead of interfacing.

11. Cut apart Clemens Shirts
Been looking at the patterns and might have a good fit for the number of shirts.
The designs are all different sizes, so it is important to have a pattern that accommodates that.

25 September - 1 October 2017
1.Work on Irish Stars quilt-a-long
36 of 81 done

2. Reorganize the studio - work on cutting table & sewing machine counter

3.Work on baby clothing quilt

4. WITB - finish the two smaller containers.

5. Quilt Western Sunset

6. Quilt QOV

7. Quilt QOV

8. Quilt CIL

9. Work on Spring Jelly Roll

Stash Report

quilt paint create links to all our stash reports
Used this Week:                                                 6.07 yards
Used year to Date:                                         183.34 yards
Total out of stash this Month (September)       -7.40 yards
Added this Week:                                             0.00 yards
Added Year to Date:                                        61.00 yards
Goal:                                                             200.00 yards
Yards to goal:                                                  74.49 yards

Net Used in quilts 2017:                                 125.51 yards
A couple of other fun facts are:

Prairie Moon is doing a 350 blocks challenge this year:
Number of equivalent blocks:                      981
Perimeter in inches                                    8872
Number of UFOs finished this year:              35
UFO Yardage Used                                131.65

Amount of yardage used in UFOs              72%
Number of Spools Used this week           0
Number of Spools Used this year            5

I really think counting bobbins will be the way I go next year.
My spools are too big.

I'm still in the red for September, but I only need 7.4 yards to break even.
I'm over the 100 yards in the original of the 100 net yards used for the year, but would really like to make that more.

Thinking this is going to be a good week.

CIL

First Covered in Love Quilt is quilted.

Quilted leaves in a semi organic way.

I just got 2 QOVs added to my list, so one will be loaded next.

Pencil case

Teal colored lining.
I found this fabric when I was putting away all the laundry basket full of fabric I'd used lately.
DD wanted another one.
I used this pattern in Instructables.
It went together very nicely.
I would rather have the pouch lined, so I'll see if I can remember how to do that.
I think DD will like it the way it is too.

I'm linking up to Elm Street Bag It

Whoop Whoop

Confessions of a Fabric Addict Does a Whoop Whoop Post on Fridays.
I missed it on Friday, but here goes.

I've not quilted anything because I don't want to sew batting together.
I want to, but I don't want to stop and do it.
So, I started working on my Spring Jelly Roll, which happens to include the art from Special Reach last year.
I'll put this together into a small quilt and they will auction it off at their event.

I did get another row sewn on the baby clothing quilt.
It is cute, but I have a mental issue with this quilt.
It is big and heavy.
It takes abut 20 minutes to pin all the seams before sewing.
But, I'm making progress.

I'm also making a small bag for the the Elm Street Bag It Challenge.
I'm making a pencil case for my DD.

I really need to finish off postcards, which would mean I'd change the foot and be able to get to sewing batting together.

Happiness is quilting

Are your working on the Happiness is Quilting BOM?
Block #8 is out.
This is my Block #8

I'd love to see what you have done.

Putting fabric away

I've been sewing and putting my extra fabric in a thirty-one laundry hamper.
They are pretty.
I have one for the cut off pieces and one for fabric to be put away.
I was being a good girl and straightening up before I sewed.
It's been 2 hours and this is what I have.
What's still left in the basket.
I'm tired and it will have to wait.

Scraps to go into the scrap drawers, sorted by color.
I've used the blue and greens for the Irish Stars quilt along.

Large pieces of fabric that need to go back on the shelves.
Will they fit?????

I made some progress, but so much more to go.

That laundry basket holds a lot.

Third table runner

Same Fabric, but the 10 minute table runner.
This one is done.
I really want to figure out how to make it with batting, but I had to give it a try.
I am done with this UFO as soon as I quilt the others.

Fall Table Runner

Used more of the Fall fabric to make another table runner.
Used the yellow this time and I'm OK with it in this format.

I still have a couple of squares left, and fabric left (of course).
But, I think I'm done with this UFO.

Orange Fall Table Runner

The top is done.
Need to find batting and backing and finish this off.

First, I'm working on filing and a WITB

Progress

I'm going to do my best to link up to some of the blogs I've watched over the years.
These are the ones I can remember right now, so that is my start

I'm struggling to get into a schedule.
I seem to be wasting my time, but I don't know why.
So, I'm hoping this helps me to focus more.
Finished Western Sunset Top and need to get it quilted

Cut T-shirts for two quilts and need to get the stabilizer on them both.

Orange fall quilt/table runner.
I love the orange and thought the other fabrics went well, but....
This color issue for this UFO is probably why it was never finished.
I don't like the layout of the pieces.
This is a little better, but not much

I think the yellow is too much of a contrast..

A little less bright, but I like it better without the yellow.
I think I'm going to just make a table runner out of it and be done.
I'll have extra fabric leftover, and maybe I'll just do a 10 minute runner.

Western Sunset

I put the final border on my western sunset top.
The dark brown paisley will be the backing for it.
Now to figure out the batting.
Do I piece some more or do I take off the roll?

Fiber Tuesday

What am I working on?
Finished UFO Day Lily

Working on this Irish Stars at wedding dress blues quilt along.
I've done 30% of these blocks, but still need to do the stars too.

Simply woven had 2 blocks and I made two mug rugs from them.

Western Sunset has one more row and getting the next border put on it.
I'm almost done with this top.

Making progress, and having fun.

Finished Day Lily Binding
Black on Black with Black thread is hard on these old eyes. LOL
Organic Quilting.
Not my favorite style, but it works.

I finished the test quilt and a mug rug, but a dear friend gave me 21 yards of fabric.
I think I need to get busy and quilt up a storm.
Wish I had a larger quilt ready to finish, but I'm still doing good on completing projects.

Motivational Monday

Can't show the quilt, but it is bound and washed.

7. Western Sunset to top stage
Well, I ran out of the yellow and was deciding what to do.
I now have another yellow cut and ready to do that border.
I'll do a yellow border, then an orange one.
The final border will be a pretty brown paisley.

Added 8. Sparkling Sampler Block D
I have not kept up with the rainbow scrap challenge and sparkling sampler.
Since I got the test quilt done, I can work on these.
Quilted the mug rugs from simply woven when I had Day lily on the frame
